Student Grants

As the name suggests, ACAP is the national College representing student ambulance officers, paramedics and intensive care paramedics in all clinical, educational, operational and management environments.

ACAP (NSW) is the largest Branch of the College with over 1500 members. Our members are employed in university, private service providers and of course the Ambulance Service of New South Wales.

The scope, importance and recognition of prehospital care have grown significantly over the past decade, with many more exciting developments planned.

ACAP (NSW) recognises the importance of university education in prehospital care and fundamentally supports ongoing growth of university education as vital to the continued expansion and professional recognition of prehospital providers.

To support university students studying in the area of prehospital care ACAP (NSW) is pleased to announce the following scholarships that will be managed by Charles Sturt University.

  • 2 Equity Scholarships for first year mature age students. $500 each.
    The equity scholarship will be available to students classified as mature age students consistent with the CSU guidelines.
  • Associate Professor’s Address. $500.
    The Associate Professors address will be an annual event for the entire student body within the school undertaking the Bachelor of Clinical Practice. The funding will be utilised to assist in travel/accommodation or other incidentals of the guest speaker.
  • Welcoming function. $500.
    The function will be used to sign 1st year students into the College. A special three-year undergraduate membership category will be created for students.
  • Clinical placement scholarships for 2nd and 3rd year students. 5 X $200.
    The scholarships will be provided to assist third year students to undertake clinical placements that would otherwise disadvantage them eg. Clinical placements in remote locations. Selection will be based on grade point average throughout first and second years of the undergraduate course.
  • Graduate Certificate Scholarships. 10 X $100.
    To assist students undertaking a postgraduate certificate in an approved CSU course.
  • Research Degrees. $2000 Pre Hospital Postgraduate Research Scholarship.
    This will be run in conjunction with the Mitchell Foundation that is providing $4000 per year for two years. The selection process will follow the guidelines of the Mitchell Foundation.
  • Conversion Grants. 10 X $100
    These grants will be offered to officers of the ASNSW who are undertaking the conversion course to attend residential school in the third year – CLS 310. Recipients will be chosen on grade point average.
  • Specialist opportunities. $1000
    This money will be spent on events that benefit College members and the student body. As an example, the funds could assist in supporting a Visiting Professor in Pre Hospital Care.
