Mar 06   Peter Mullholland wins Research Bursary, Peter, who is employed in the Northern Ambulance Region (Launceston) as a Clinical Support Officer, was awarded the inaugural $10,000 Prehospital Care Research Bursary.
 
Feb 06   Electronic Patient Care Record, the Tasmanian Ambulance Service has commenced a 12 month project to implement the 'Victorian Ambulance Clinical Information System (VACIS)'. There has been a full time project officer appointed (John Horton, john.horton@dhhs.tas.gov.au) and a reference group currently meets fortnightly. The project aims to implement the VACIS system into all Tasmanian Paramedic Ambulances.
 
Feb 06   Political Parties make 'Ambulance' an election issue, Tasmania is having a state election on the 18th March 2006. ACAP has been actively highlighting the problems currently faced by the Tasmanian Ambulance Service and all parties have included ambulance resources in their pre-election promises.
 
Feb 06   New Ambulance Training Program, the Tasmanian Ambulance Service through arrangements with Monash University (Vic) and the University of Tasmania, have commenced a new educational program, the 'Associate Degree in Paramedic Studies'.
 
Nov 05   New Research Bursary, the ACAP Executive Committee in association with Calvary Health Care and the University of Tasmania Department of Rural Health have developed a 'Prehospital Care Research Bursary'. The Bursary is awarded to enable a salaried officer working in TAS to undertake a Masters preliminary program at the University of Tasmania Department of Rural Health.
 
Oct 05     Letters from the Minister for Health, The state ACAP Executive Committee received replies form the Minster for Health on concerns with older equipment and quality assurance.
 
Oct 05     Sir Basil Osborne Award, The Sir Basil Osborne Award is an award presented to the Student Ambulance Officer who is judged the most improved student who demonstrates during their course that they are professional in their approach to their role as an Ambulance Practitioner and strives at all times to be the best that they can be. The recipient of this award for 2004 was Deb Davis from Burnie in the North West Region. Deb was presented with her award at a graduation ceremony by Professor Mark Burton, Dean, of the Faculty of Health Science from the Charles Sturt University. (Photo)
 
Sept 05    State AGM, The Annual General Meeting was held on the 1st of September 2005. Minutes of the AGM will be available soon. The Chair's report is available to read.
 
Aug 05     Meeting with the Minister for Health, ACAP executive committee members meet with the   Health Minister to discuss our concerns on the professional operations and development of the Tasmanian Ambulance Service. Those who attended felt the minister was genuinely concerned and receptive to their discussion.            
 
Aug 05     State Seminar, The annual ACAP state seminar is currently being finalised and is programmed to be held on the 20th Oct 2005, in Hobart. Guest speaker will be Mr. Mark Cooke, National Clinical Effectiveness Manager with the ASA in the UK. The Organising Committee is calling for submissions, Call for Papers. Anyone interested is encouraged to talk with their regional ACAP representatives about attendance and transport.
 
Jul 05     Road Rescue Review, The state executive provided a submission to the Government's review into the provision of road rescue by the Tasmanian Ambulance Service.
 
Jul 05     Productivity Commission Submission, The state executive contributed to the Productivity Commission's "The Health Workforce" review by providing a detailed submission.
