Kevin Milton Smith Scholarship
 

Mr Kevin Milton Smith
Mr Kevin Milton Smith joined the then St John  Ambulance Brigade in 1966 and became a paid ambulance officer in 1967.  Mr Smith was with St John Ambulance for a massive 23 years and holding the positions of ambulance officer, duty officer and Chief Superintendent.  Mr Smith passed away in 1991 and this Scholarship was set up to honour his memory.

The Scholarship has been used to fund a variety of opportunities that have enabled both career and volunteer pre-hospital clinicians avenues to expand their education  and knowledge in the field.

As an organisation with similar goals ACAP Western Australia and out scholarship partner, St John  Ambulance WA, makes funding available to enable three recipients to attend the ACAP National Conference.  The package includes:
 

  • Return airfares from Perth
  • Accommodation
  • Conference Registration
  • Attendance at the Conference Dinner
  • Shift coverage for St John Ambulance WA employees (ie: no shift paybacks)

Scholarship Application Process
Applicants are required to complete the application package which asks applicants to detail their achievements over the previous five years, focussing on areas such as employment, education, community service, arts and sports.

The Scholarship Recipients will be required to make an informal presentation to the Directors of St John  Ambulance WA and at ACAP members at a professional development seminar, relaying their conference experience.

Applications will be judged by a panel comprising of ACAP Western Australia committee members and St John Ambulance WA senior staff.

ACAP Western Australia members will be notified via email when applications are open.
