ACAP researchers at ANU have tackled degradation in perovskite silicon tandem cells, by deliberately running tandem cells in a slightly mismatched mode, where the silicon layer limits the overall current – and dramatically suppresses the problematic voltage fluctuations in the perovskite layer.

In his update on ACAP's tandem solar cell research program for 2025, Professor Klaus Weber showed that ACAP's collaborative model positions us well to tackle the complex challenges no single lab can tackle alone.

A collaborative global team, led by the University of Sydney and supported by ACAP, has demonstrated record-setting size, performance and durability for perovskite–perovskite–silicon triple-junction solar cells.
